The Alcott Arts Center is an important place, run by dedicated people who have achieved extraordinary things with a shoestring budget. I have had the privilege of serving as a board member in the past.
I believe what is most powerful about Alcott is that they meet artists and community members where they're at. They're not afraid to do programming that is diverse as the people who work with them. They really embody the ethos of everyone working together.
Alcott, particularly Chuck and Chris Green, provided me with years of invaluable mentorship and experience. The arts center truly served as an incubator for me. As a teenage playwright, I was able to stage many productions both at Alcott and elsewhere (such as the KC Fringe Festival) with their support. I could not have achieved as much as I did without them. Alcott also served as a hub where I met some of my most impactful collaborators.
Believe me, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I think I have literally hundreds of wonderful stories about the support that Alcott gave and the ways they shaped my worldview for the better. I hope that you will engage with this amazing organization and start creating stories of your own.

I am so grateful for the Alcott Arts Center. I really can't catalog all of the ways that they have made a positive impact on my life. I have had experiences here as a theatre artist, volunteer, patron, and even a board member. They offer an artistic home for a wide variety of artists, they're committed to community, and they do SO MUCH with so little. I want them to receive all of the support they need to thrive.
I could go on for pages. Instead, just give me a call 913-953-6082. My name is Zachary Weaver. I'm happy to tell you about every single amazing experience I've had at the Alcott, or just answer any questions you have.
