As a volunteer for Assistance League of Kansas City, I can can share an experience I had. I am a member of The Best Foot Forward program. This is a program to help individuals entering or reentering the workforce. It has been my pleasure to assist several individuals. The one I remember the most vividly is a young lady reentering the work force. This individual had nothing except the clothes on her back. She didn't even have any underwear. we were able to provide her with everything she needed for her second interview and the job she hoped to get. She was so grateful for the assistance we provided and thanked us with tears in her eyes for not only the clothing she needed but for not judging her. As she left she asked if she could give us a hug. Of course we hugged her and wished her luck. We will continue to to to expand on this service and have recently added household items for those who need them.
