I supported a client of mine who volunteered once a week with A Touch of Understanding as a speaker for their workshops. This was always my volunteer's, as well as mine, favorite engagement for the week. As a speaker, my client was able to tell her story and talk to the children about her disability, as well as share all that she has accomplished in life. My client's message was always powerful and would break down any barriers that the children may have had concerning her disability. The children connected with her and friendships were always made. This was not only empowering for the children but for my client as well. I am in love with this organization and the message they are helping to spread in our communities - "Building Empathy and Igniting Respect."
