I enthusiastically recommend American Bird Conservancy as a Great Nonprofit. ABC is the most effective bird conservation in the Americas. It has logical, well defined and ambitious programs dealing with anthropomorphic threats (e. g., pesticides, cats, collisions), habitat in North, Central and South America and public/governmental support for bird conservation. ABC is willing to take actions which are potentially controversial, but are absolutely the right things to do for birds. Although relatively small, ABC "punches way above its weight" and achieves conservation results disproportionate with its size.
