I became a volunteer at PawPADs a little over 2 years ago. I was really interested in helping out at a service dog organization. There were a few to choose from in the area, but PawPADs' unique mission stood out to me. The concept of using the training process to benefit people, (of course, in addition to the end goal of placing service dogs) immediately drew me to the organization. In the 2-3 years the dogs spend in training, they have the power to change a lot of lives. I love that PawPADs recognizes that, and strives to build programs to support that concept. I even had the opportunity to participate in their University program, ADEPT. The program changed my life in ways I couldn't imagine. Additionally, it allowed me to reach out and participate in activities that reached even more people.
