This year has not been easy on our family and after I lost my job, we were looking at having to give up my granddaughters pony. Her mother tried to explain but my granddaughter was very sad and started acting out. Worse, we weren't having very much luck finding him a new home. Luckily my vet told me about The Red Horse Running Equine Foundation. We called them. Their first question was what we wanted to have happen. Once I told them we really wanted to be able to keep him, the questions all centered on his needs and the conditions of his pasture and barn. I admitted we were having problems with the water pump at the barn but we were making due by carrying water from the house. Imagine my surprise when their Facilities Director, Barry showed up with a volunteer to bring a bag of the feed our pony was used to, some hay AND tools to work on our water pump! Their Executive Director, Suzanne called me 4 days later to follow up on how we were doing and told me about a job she had heard about and thought I might be interested in. It took me 4 months to get back on my feet During that time, Red Horse Running provided feed, hay, wormer and even vaccinations for our pony and Barry repaired the wiring at our barn that turned out to be the source of the water pump problem. I can't sing the praises of this organization loud enough to tell everyone how wonderful they were to me and my family. They treated our pony as though he was their own. I'm very grateful to have them in our community and will donate to them as long as I can so they can be there to help other families in trouble.
