I took Tom O'Connell's mixed media class this summer. It was really fun. We used largely recycled materials from the local town dump to create molds that we decorated and shaped in various ways before pouring in the concrete. Here is my butterfly unmolded, isn't it pretty? And you can also see what a beautiful day it was, sunny. I still need to scrape out the pink insulation on the other side, And the cement around the edges is rough. You need to put a bead of silicon caulk around the interior of the mold before you pour in the cement. This makes the edges nice. If the edges turn out rough then you can smooth them down with a diamond file, carefully. I am looking forward to taking another class at the Truro Center for the Arts next summer.
