Review for HopeWorks of Howard County, Columbia, MD, USA
I have been a volunteer at HopeWorks for the past three years. As a survivor, my goal was to give back and help others. Not only have I had the opportunity to serve in many capacities as a volunteer, but much to my amazement, I have benefited from the many programs and projects available for survivors.
I never expected to learn more about self-care, wellness, and journaling. I have also participating in creative arts programs and performances. Studies have shown that direct experiences in creative arts greatly enhances trauma recovery.
It has also been my honor to have met so many wonderful people at HopeWorks.
The administrators and staff are outstanding. The opportunity to meet other survivors and volunteers has greatly exceeded my expectations at HopeWorks.
Review for HopeWorks of Howard County, Columbia, MD, USA
I moved to Howard County, MD two years ago. As a longtime survivor of intimate partner violence (IPV), I wanted to volunteer for an organization that provided support and services to individuals who had experienced IPV. My desire has always been to help others. I searched the Internet and found HopeWorks!
The volunteer training is very thorough and informative. In addition to general training, there is specific training in various areas of service. My volunteer experience in many different areas is meaningful and rewarding. My intention was to give, but what I have received is unimaginable. As a survivor, I participate in the Our Voice: Survivor's Wellness & Advocacy workshops, self-care workshops, and the Poetry N2 Wellness Workshop.
HopeWorks is an outstanding and compassionate organization addressing sexual and intimate partner violence as well as social justice. This nonprofit is truly an asset to Howard County!
