I found the Medicine Horse Project almost two years ago. Spoke with the director Chris Nichols on the phone, and planned a visit up with the family. When we got there I knew this was where I’m bringing home my forever horse. She introduced us to Emerald, and well the rest is history. Chris has such a fabulous process to make sure you are making the right decision. No rash moments are allowed. So a second visit was scheduled. The 4 hour drive home all I could think about was getting back to see my horse. The moment I got the call that I was indeed approved was the best call. Emerald was delivered on my youngest daughters birthday. She is such a blessing to have in our family. Finding the Medicine Horse Project was one of the greatest things to happen to our family. We are forever grateful that they allowed us to love one of there babies.

When I started my search for adopting a horse I stumbled apoun Chris and The Medicine Horse Project. From the moment I got off the phone with Chris arranging a date and time to come up and meet the heard I knew that she was the woman that I was going to adopt my first horse from. The Medicine Horse project is not about making the next dollar. They are about making sure the horses find there forever home. I always dreamed of wanting a horse as a little girl and never got one. I now know that I was meant to meet Chris and find my forever horse. I adopted Emerald a four year old quarter mustang cross. I drove over four hours with two kids and a husband to meet my horse. After arriving I fell in love with the atompshere, the people and the horses! The property is kept immaculately tidy, horses are taken care of above and beyond. After realizing I had found my soul horse, unlike a lot of places that would have taken the money and called it a day, Chris actually called references and made sure she was crossing her t’s and dotting her i’s. They also required a second visit, to make sure everyone was still happy with the decision. I would recommend The Medicine Horse Project to anyone who wants to adopt an amazing horse and meet amazing people! Finding Chris and The Medicine Horse Project has changed my life and my families life for the better.
