Review for Ready For Reading Inc, Dorset, VT, USA
Ready for Reading is a gem among the many that work in the world of literacy and community building. The founder, inspired by her travels to Rwanda and her love of books, set out to create a library/learning center in a rural community in Rwanda over 15 years ago. Over those years, Ready for Reading has brought the joy of reading to life and other dynamic programs (mom's club, drumming groups, sports programs) have flourished as a result of a committed, engaging and enthusiastic team. Ready for Reading learning center is the hub and heart of the community bringing joy and hope for a brighter future. RFR is the little engine that could and it does just that every day. It is satisfying to support this organization and those it serves.
Review for Fabretto Children's Foundation, Evanston, IL, USA
Our family supported Fabretto as a donor through an invitation of a friend. We took a closer look at the communities they serve in 2012 on a Friends of Fabretto trip to Nicaragua. Their educational and nutrition programs have far-reaching impact in rural and urban communities. We went further with our exploration of the organization and joined them for 9 months of volunteer work in Managua. They are the real deal. They deliver on their commitment. They foster community within the beneficiaries they serve and build successful partnerships with
other NGO and government support.
