Review for FNE International, E Weymouth , MA, USA
Ever since I became an Occupational therapist, I wanted to travel to another country to help an underserved population. FNE International helped me realize my dream without a substantial time or financial commitment. Earlier this year, I joined a group of expressive art therapy graduate students to a small school for children with autism and other challenges.
Our trip was impeccably organized from start to finished and dedicated and compassionate FNE mentors accompanied us throughout the week to provide guidance and support whenever it was needed and made sure we had fun along the way.
My experience in Nicaragua safely immersed me in the culture and gave me a rare glimpse of how natives lived and worked. Everyone we encountered opened their hearts and homes to us and were extremely appreciative of our contributions. I was humbled by their generosity and ability to live such rich, fulfilling lives with so little.
By the end the week, I had an entirely different perspective of the world around me and enabled me to grow both personally and professionally. The trip was the perfect blend of work and play and the ideal opportunity for any student or professional looking to volunteer internationally. I enjoyed it so much that I’m heading to Peru in December for another FNE adventure.
