The Opening Word program provides immigrant women with skills in English:
such as speaking through conversation, grammar,reading ,writing and math skills through practice.
The women have a comradery with each other and are made to feel comfortable
with the support of their instructors. They gain self confidence with their
progress and feel proud with these achievements. Many of the women also
study and succeed in becoming U. S. Citizens. They are able to be more effective at work and with their families. They help their children with schoolwork and model for them the promise of a successful future.
I am proud to be part of this program, knowing the relevance of this program
for the women that attend, for their families and the community in which they function. The Opening Word provides them with the hope that they will fulfill their dreams, improve their life and be productive Americans.
