Review for Brookings-Harbor Red Shirts, Brookings, OR, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Brookings-Harbor Redshirts have sucessfully completed their mission for the past 5 years and now are in our 6th year of supporting our troops. We have sent a total of 5,230 care packages to our military serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. This year we are hold another 9/11 memorial in Brookings Oregon at Azalea park. This is the 10th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks, and we will be having a memorial and a candle light vigil. We'll have speakers and music and give away the big raffle prizes for this year at the event. The community and visitors are invited, just bring a lawn chair to the park. Let's remember our fallen brethern together and have a moment of silence for them. Sept 11, 2011 at 4 pm in Brookings Oregon.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Beside the wonderful speakers, a lot of the community is out helping and remembering 9/11. It's a very patriotic event, so wear red, white and blue or someting that's patriotic. The event goes from 4 pm to 7 pm. Food and raffle tickets available.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Try to get them more funding so they could do even more for our troops and our community. They are involved with all the schools in town, the students write many letters to the soldiers, and many get responses back. It's a great feeling that's exchanged.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Very Well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

The experience is really great as it is, but it would be nice to help mentor newer members and get the accustomed to doing the things they way we have learned works best.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

My volunteer experience has given me a better ability to speak to groups of people, classes or crowds. As far as friends go, when you're in this together doing something from the heart such as supporting the troops, you learn new thing every day, and also make close friends.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Fufilled, Kind of like paying it forward, but the rewards are really instantaneous, because your packing all these items, then taking them to the post office and actually mailing them to men and women in the armed forces, and in many cases, mailing them to hospitals and Combat Support Hospitals where they have a number of wounded warriors we like to take care of.

Review for Brookings-Harbor Red Shirts, Brookings, OR, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Brookings-Harbor Redshirts have sent over 4,900 care packages to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan during the past 4 years. They have received hundreds of letters and emails of thanks from the troops, and in many instances, the troops have flown American flags during their deployment and sent them to the Redshirts. There are always those who try to undermine a honorable mission, they only have their own selfish interests in mind. This group is A1 in all respects and has open books for all to see with the IRS. God bless our troops.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Serving as a volunteer and President for the past 3 years and receiving many letters of thanks to the Redshirts from our troops. Check our our website.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They truly are dedicated to their mission of supporting our troops.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Of the hightest moral standard.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Send many more care packages to our military sons and daughters serving in harm's way.
