Review for River Discovery Inc, Boise, ID, USA
I have served as medical director since the inception of River Discovery, and have participated in the Teen River trip the past two years. This is the most unique "Cancer Camp" experience that I am aware of. It is a true wilderness high adventure on the beautiful Salmon River, with all the challenges and opportunity for growth that this entails. This allows for individual and group growth through challenging outdoor physical encounters. Any other "cancer camp" that I'm aware of involves a fairly regimented activity schedule, and usually is based out of a central "camp" where campers stay in cabins. On River Discovery the camps are in a different spot along the river each night, with daily opportunities to navigate new whitewater rapids, swim, hike, climb, rappel, star gaze and so much more!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
having the time away with these kids in a different environment is an unparalleled experience, and helps to expand our doctor-patient relationship in positive ways. It also rejuvenates me, and allows me to “recharge my batteries” for the year.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the unique nature of the river trip, which sets this apart from all other "cancer camps".
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Top notch. These are the best in their field.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Provide the unparalleled experience for cancer patients in perpetuity.
