Over ten-plus years I have sponsored from one to four people at a time through Unbound, including several children, several young adults in academic programs, and one elder. These people have lived in Central America, South America, India, and Africa. I have always been kept informed about the sponsored people regularly.
From the beginning, I find out the person's family history and environmental stressors and advantages. I get a recent photo of the person. Over time, I can correspond with the person as much as I want. When I can't correspond, a volunteer will write in my place. Annually, I receive an update about the person's environmental situation, as well as a new photo. Even when the person has to leave the program, due to a family change or a new job, I am allowed to send a goodbye letter.
I feel that Unbound is one of the top agencies worldwide, in the use of its money, in setting realistic and achievable goals, and in transparency and accountability. I would recommend this agency to anyone, wanting to do effective international help with your money!

I discovered the Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary years ago, online. I was enchanted by the sweet photos of the blind cats (in those days). After giving a donation, I saw my name acknowledging I was helping that cat. I love how the spokesperson, Alana, sends personal notes thanking me for the donations, and the beautiful photos I receive of at least one of my sponsored cats every year!
