Review for Pet Project for Pets, Inc., Wilton Manors, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Pet project is unique in its approach. They provide pet food, pet vaccines and flea medication, in home pet care, and funds for vet care to terminally ill, disabled, elderly, crime victims, and people who have lost their jobs. In this way, Pet Project preserves the Human/Animal bond, which is documented to have healing benefits. The pet remains in a loving home, instead of a shelter, or prematurely euthanized. Pet Project has administrative costs underwritten, so 100% of donations goes to client services.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The thanks I get when a client is able to feed his or her pet. Our clients lose so much with their poor health. the ability to keep their companion animal means the world to them. Keeping an animal out of a shelter, and in a home is important to me.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to let more people know about it! Research I have conducted on illness and elderly in our area indicates we are only reaching a fraction of potential clients. I would also like to reach more potential volunteers and donors.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing how happy our clients are with their pets.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very caring and compassionate, with strengths that are used in different areas of the organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand services to reach all who need our service. We could also get more animals out of shelters and rescues and into loving homes. Pet Project would subsidize the cost of pet care for the remainder of the pet's life..

Ways to make it better...

There were more volunteers willing to give a little time for client services or outreach. We could do more with more hands.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Letting people know we exist! Everyone I tell about The Pet Project thinks it's a wonderful program. Also, in this economy, the request for services in increasing daily, which is why we expanded to the recently unemployed. However, donations are slowing.

One thing I'd also say is that...

With 100% of donations going to client services, and not to administrative costs, it is one of the best organizations out there.
