Review for iACT, Redondo Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I got involved with iACT in 2015 as a volunteer and have contributed with various acitivites remotely in the following years. In addition to the amazing work they do and the way they establish close bonds and friendships with the adults and children their programs benefit, iACT has established a work culture that fosters empathy and respect as well as openness and critical feedback, treating everyone equally from full-time staff all the way to the interns. The founders had a unique gift for selecting passionate and hard-working staff. Unlike other NGOs I've worked with, the people at iACT actually live what they "preach".

I was an intern with iACT a few years back and have since volunteered on occasion throughout the years. I loved working with them and have learned a ton about the issues their work targets and their unique approaches to supporting and working alongside the most vulnerable groups. It got me even more invested in refugee support work in my own country (Germany).
Their philosophy of empathy extends all the way to their employees, volunteers and interns which makes it a great work environment, too!

An organization of such effectiveness, reach and substance, especially in a world full of a large number of well-meaning NGOs, is very rare, and I am proud to have had the privilege of volunteering with them in various ways. I have seen how constructively and carefully iACT approaches devising programs and strategies, always keeping in mind the importance of empathy, being a genuine listener and ensuring long-term and empowering support that is catered to the needs of individuals. It is also heartwarming to see the friendships formed over the years between iACT team members and people in the camps.

Here's an NGO that has a genuine interest in making lives better by involving people they're trying to help as actively as possible. If you want to know your money is going towards causes with real impact, be sure to donate for iACT or make time available to volunteer.
