Review for Pearl S. Buck International, Inc., Perkasie, PA, USA
The other day, I heard the head of the Cassini Imaging Project speak about the photo that her team took from Saturn: she called it, "The Day the Earth Smiled." From Saturn, earth is a small dot in a limitless universe, and the image reminded me that -- despite the tribalism that has recently gripped politicians everywhere -- the people of earth had better hang together or we shall all hang separately (to paraphrase Ben Franklin.)
Pearl S Buck International is doing the important work of helping people to understand each other. They call it "bridging cultures," and they provide intercultural education, child sponsorships, and other programs that change lives for the better. The organization rallies around the work and thought of Pearl S Buck, the first woman to win both the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. Pearl S. Buck International inspires visitors with tours of Pearl S. Buck's home in Pennsylvania, programs that encourage teens to become leaders, and a vision that inspires everyone to reach across cultures for a deeper understanding of what it means to be human. If ever we needed an organization with this mission, it is today.
