Review for RedRover, Sacramento, CA, USA
UAN (the redshirts!) is both an animal-welfare and human welfare organization. This was especially evident on a deployment to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to shelter animals displaced by the floods, or temporarily relinquished to UAN because of flooded homes. Stranded pets were rescued, injured pets treated, and homeless pets were housed, fed, groomed. And, pet owners were able to stop in, see their pets, and play with them in UAN-built fenced areas until they were able to get back into their homes. While no one wants to ever be separated from their pets, they were eternally grateful they had a group of UAN volunteers who provided round the clock care for them, and helped get displaced pets back to their loving homes.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
By being able to provide information about their Lifeline Grants to several people in need. Lifeline Grants are provided to people who need assistance with veterinary care. Information about these Grants is at UAN's website www.uan.org
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
make a more significant effort to educate the public about the truest humane solution to pet overpopulation, pet neglect, and pet abuse. The solution is spaying and neutering so that pets are not so plentiful that just anyone can get their hands on one.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
knowing that my presence and time volunteering truly made a difference.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Professional, knowlegeable, dedicated, compassionate, and resourceful.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
start a mobile spay/neuter clinic and educate the public not only about the tragedies associated with pet overpopulation, but about how to prevent them and end them.
Ways to make it better...
I had more time to stay and help.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
not being well known.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Being involved in this organization is a truly rewarding experience.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
One time
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
2008
Thanks for writing this review and for volunteering to help the animal and human victims of the Cedar Rapids flood!
