I started this non profit 16 years ago and I can definitely say that I never imagined that it would be a saving grace for so many. Yes we have had our ups and downs because of funding, disgruntled employees and families that we could not serve...but for the 1200 women and children we did serve their lives are a living testament that it was all worth it. When I see women regain custody of children ( 276 ytd) and then move on into their own housing I am amazed and very grateful. Twenty five years ago I was one of these women wishing to regain custody of my daughter but there was no program or place that would house me.. That's why I continue to do this work.. and for anybody that wants to complain all I can say is go and do better!
