Review for Association Of German Shepherd Rescuers Inc, Newport Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have adopted 5 dogs from Association of German Shepherd Rescuers, Inc, (Also known as German Rescue of Orange County, Inc over the years. My first one was known as Shy Dog who I called Shae who came from a hoarding situation and was totally shut down. It took 3 months before I could take him off a lead when outside as he could just hide. He was so affectionate and trusting after that. Most of my dogs have had behavioral or medical issues as GSROC makes a point of rescuing and helping these less desired dogs and I love the challenges and also the rewards to see them change. I also have fostered puppies for them as many of these would not survive in a shelter environment if too young. I love this rescue and the volunteers as they not only take the pretty and easy to adopt dogs/pups, but also the hard to place, and give them a chance for a new life. The volunteers spend hours helping socialize the rescues, have obedience classes for them, bathe them before events so that they look clean, take them for walks if in a kennel, plus those who open their homes to foster so that they can transition easier into a new home. Since they take on the challenging cases (medical/behavioral), expenses are high and they work hard to get donations, and put on several major fund raisers a year. They also work with other rescues, including all breed to help when they help rescue dogs from hoarding or difficult situations.
