The New Fairfield/Sherman Animal Welfare has helped so many animals in various ways. The dogs and cats that come in to the shelter many times come from horrible conditions, may not have had the care needed for various reasons, or need to be relinquished by individuals who may no longer care for them. Although there are many rescues that do the same, I feel like this small shelter works very hard with getting these deserving animals the homes and families they need. Taking care of them as if they were their own!

This is a wonderful place! The shelter is small with only 10 dog kennels but has great yard space for them to play in. The facility is clean and when you enter, you will definitely be greeted by office kitties! The cats have lots of windows and perches to share. There are many volunteers who walk the dogs on the outdoor paths and who can be found playing, brushing, or sitting with both the cats and dogs. The shelter encourages children to visit with their parents to play and read to the kitties. There is also a special NFSAW Girl Scout badge which was developed by two scouts to help promote animal care and adoption!
