Review for Humanity For Children, Columbia, MO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I was fortunate to be invited to join a group of women traveling to Rwanda & Tanzania as representatives for Humanity for Children. Our January 2018 trip gave me the opportunity to see HFC’s good works firsthand. In Rwanda, HFC has given grants which provided a women’s group with sewing machines so they can produce vital school uniforms, 5th graders with solar lights so they can study at night, women in a joyous “dancing village” in Gahima with livestock, and women of Tumenyane with a financial grant so they could form a cooperative which supports individual economic ventures for self-sustainment. We didn’t just visit these ongoing projects, but we also had the chance to talk to these women & students. We heard stories of struggles & hardships, but today, because of HFC, these stories are ones of hope & change, but, most of all, empowerment. HFC’s grants have made these women stronger, more financially secure and afforded them equal respect among the men in the villages. The students are so hopeful, full of sheer joy & an unparalleled enthusiasm for learning. They have all been empowered by HFC to reach their potential, to be their best selves. It was beautiful to see. Likewise, the women of the Maasai Village in Longido Tanzania have gained respect from their husbands & equal footing in the village because they are producing jewelry & crafts which yield financial gains. HFC has changed lives. It may be small, but it is mighty. It vets all projects before approving funding & carefully monitors results. I am proud to support this charity. It is a great nonprofit!
