It has been over twenty years since I first attended Mickaboo’s bird care class, and soon after, I brought home my very first foster cockatiel. I had no idea at the time that this bird would split my heart wide open and change my life forever. I have fostered, rehabilitated, and adopted many, many Mickaboo birds since then, not only because there is such a great need, but because once you get to know these gentle, little souls, you can always find room in your heart for one more.

The people of Mickaboo are the most dedicated and driven people I have ever encountered. Mickaboo was founded over 20 years ago with just a handful of volunteers and has grown exponentially into a full-fledged rescue organization with hundreds of volunteers and thousands of birds rescued. To this day, they do not have paid employees; this organization is fueled by compassion, dedication and the love for companion birds. I am proud to be a part of that.
