I worked with AIWR for several months tutoring an Afghan woman in English. After the fall of Afghanistan, I helped research information on how to help doctor and lawyer refugees fleeing to Canada become able to practice there.

This nonprofit has a massive impact on the lives of the mentees and has supported them through the horrific transfer of power to the Taliban. They do amazing work.

I've been an ESL Volunteer for a mentee for a little over six months now and really feel good about this organization. I spent time in the Middle East and have some familiarity of some of the challenges women face there. I'm thrilled to be helping bring English education to those who can use it to rise above those challenges and achieve great things. With some non-profits, it's difficult to tell how much of a difference you're making, but I see it every week when I talk to my mentee. It's been great fun getting to know her.
