My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Humane Society Silicon Valley, Milpitas, CA, USA
I am passionate about animals, but need to know that the organizations I support are also well-run and will steward my dollars well. Over the past several years, I have been impressed by the efficiency of HSSV's expenditures and the ratio that they spend on administrative costs. I feel good that the majority of my giving actually goes to programs, even though I know that administrative costs are necessary. I also am very impressed with the new facility and how welcoming it feels. It's QUIET there and the animals seem much less stressed out than at the older facility in Santa Clara. I love the education programs at HSSV and that snazzy Community Room that is rentable by corporations and groups. What an innovative way to invite the community into the center - and who knows!? When people come to the center, I'm sure more animals get adopted!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I adopted one of my dogs from HSSV. He was older and I was thrilled that HSSV had him up for adoption. Many other shelters only have younger dogs, and I'm drawn to the older dogs with white faces. I loved him so much and had him for 2 1/2 years.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Find a way to help them get the word out about their move to Milpitas. Also, I've heard people say Milpitas is "so far away" but it seems more centrally located to me now than when in Santa Clara - it's near 101, 880, 238, 680 and 280!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the animal I've adopted and the people (both staff and volunteers) who obviously care SO much about what they are doing.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
caring, kind, knowledgeable and very welcoming.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
finish paying for that wonderful new Animal Community Center and create an endowment for the overarching programs that will be around for years.
Ways to make it better...
I could adopt more than one at a time! I don't have more room at my house!
