This summer I had a chance to travel with Simone’s kids to Nakasaka, Uganda. While I was in Nakasaka I was able to go to two school called God’s Hope Primary School and God’s Hope High School. This high school and primary school were on one compound that was split up between an upper and lower section, so it was very easy to walk to and from each school. While we were at the schools we were encouraged to create relationships with the students. I was able to meet many students that were my age and younger. I enjoyed being able to play with the younger kids in the primary school in the morning and then having deep conversations about God and other topics with the high schoolers in the evening.
Not only did we spend time with the students at the school we also got to visit some of their homes. One project that I got to partake in was delivering mattresses, mosquito nets and bed sheets to many families that are a part of the Simone’s Kids Organization. I was amazing to see how little many of these kids have and how happy they became when they simply got a mattress to sleep on. Many of these kids that go to God’s Hope and even some of the kids in the community were so grateful and thankful for the littlest things like getting a hug or just having someone to play with.
