On May 16, 2018, I walked into Hangar 6 at Purdue University Airport and I was both terrified and excited. Back home in San Diego, I had left my husband and 7 children, I was 48 years old, and I was going to learn to fly!
From the moment my friend Melissa, who attended the previous year suggested Able Flight and I contacted them, I was hooked. Charles was so wonderful in answering all questions and leading me through the process. When I was called and told I was chosen, I was ecstatic.
Austin Decker my flight instructor and I bonded instantly. He is one of the finest young men I've ever met. He was calm and patient and when I was ready to give up, never gave up on me.
The whole Able Flight family from ground school teacher Mike Gref to all the CFI's, Christina, Andrew, Andrea, and Alyssa I felt fully supported. I wish I could name everyone!
The accommodations were accessible and I felt right at home.
I cannot say enough about how this program has changed my life. It gave me confidence and courage and it allowed my children to see their mom do something amazing! In fact, I’ve inspired my 19 year old son to pursue a career in aviation!
These are priceless gifts.
