Baptist World Alliance (BWA) is a body seeking to support the global Baptist movement in all our areas of ministry and mission. This covers more than 230 national and regional conventions and unions across the world, and represents upwards of 50 million Baptist church participants. My particular field of focus is international relief and development and social and economic justice. BWA has a rich history, particularly through BWAid and the development and relief arms across many member bodies globally, reaching people in the most vulnerable regions and communities of the world, to help them transform sustainably out of poverty and recover from disasters. Across members bodies more than US$20 million has been expended in these efforts in the past year. BWA has transformed its leadership, with a highly-skilled General Secretary and representative Executive body, seeking to be attuned and take action on many areas - equipping churches and communities, theological education, peace-building, cross-denominational dialogue and collaboration, advocacy on religious freedom and social justice. The BWA draws on talented people across its network globally, working together to serve our global community, but also to offer hope and value as Baptists to people of all faiths and backgrounds across the world.
