I was doing a clinical at a pediatric PT clinic twice a week for a semester and a Hand in Paw team came each day during my time shadowing. It was so amazing to see the children's faces light up and sometimes even perform their therapy better when the dogs were there. Sometimes the dogs were even included into the therapy, such as a patient who was working on walking getting to take the dog for a walk. Some patients would walk further than they normally would. It was so amazing to watch the children having fun and smiling, not realizing they were still doing their therapy when they were interacting with the dogs.

Hand in Paw teams have also come to my college during high stress times during the year and it has been so amazing how much the dogs can calm us down and bring us some stress relief. Talking to their owner about them, sitting down and petting the dogs, and just taking a break from reality for a few minutes is so nice.
