This group of dedicated dachshund and close dachshund mix rescuers has set its sights on educating the public about responsible pet ownership. To that end, they provide all of the dogs in their care exceptional medical care, and ensure that each dog is fostered in a loving home. The rescue is structured in such a way that each foster family has a specific contact within the organization to route all their questions, concerns, and updates on a foster dog, to ensure timely care and training. Fundraising monies are spent on that high level of veterinary care, and minimally on administrative costs related to fundraising. Their extensive network of caring volunteers has allowed this rescue to be as successful in rehoming local animals, and education on responsible pet ownership. I have interacted with DREAM both as a member of the general public who relied on the board members' dachshund expertise to ensure that I was able to responsibly provide medical care to our two dogs that have had IVDD, which is a disease that dachshunds are prone to have, as well as foster home and fundraising volunteer.
