Review for Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue, San Jose, CA, USA
I adopted my first ever rescue bird Wally from Mickaboo , months after the tragic loss of a much beloved Jenday Conure. I have not regretted adopting Wally for one moment! Every day he brings us joy and surprises. In 2013, he was rescued by a "Good Samaritan" from a Walmart parking lot in Roseville CA. He was sick from an infection and malnutrition when he was surrendered to Mickaboo. Following medical treatment, he was placed in foster care until we adopted him in 2016.
What I admire most about Mickaboo, though, is their excellent Education program - even for experienced bird owners, the Basic Bird Care Class is simply outstanding. In addition, Mickaboo Volunteers provide plenty of guidance and support to bird foster and adoptive parents.
The organization is staffed exclusively by Volunteers, with support from well qualified professionals in the Avian medical practice and others. I am so glad to have found Mickaboo and to have welcomed Wally, our beloved Nanday Conure, into my life.
I am now a Volunteer myself. I help people through the Application Process to adopt from Mickaboo's flock of orphan birds.
