Review for Labrador Rescuers, San Diego, CA, USA
I found Lab Rescuers just when I needed them. It was the usual story about the mutuality of rescues, the Who Rescued Whom question.
This group - all volunteers - know what devotion really means. They are a network of individuals who together stand ready every single day to rescue dogs who are lost, neglected, abused, or in general in need to a home. In the case of my now 4 year old labradane, they drove more than 100 miles to another county to pick her up, give her medical attention, and then a loving foster home before sending her off into the arms of her new family.
Anyone who has ever cared for and lost a dog knows how big a hole is left in the heart and the home. It is one of life's great gifts that, by providing a home to a "rescue", it is you who is healed. Nothing is more healing than the pure, open heart of a dog. As they say, it took a dog to make me human.
So, thank you to Lab Rescuers, to each of you, for the good work you do day in and day out. You make a difference, not only in the lives of our dogs, but in creating new families.
