Review for Cape Fear Raptor Center, Inc., Rocky Point, NC, USA
I am incredibly blessed to have stumbled upon the Cape Fear Raptor Center while at the BBQ Festival in Burgaw in 2016. Every-day since then I have been volunteering with them, helping medicate, clean, feed, and ultimately release birds of prey that are native to NC (and some non-native species). Since I started my journey with the raptor center, I have developed a dramatic bond with each bird that comes into the center. Not only do I create a special bond, I also feel connected to each bird by being educated on the birds behaviors and mannerisms and being able to read their next moves. Now, two years later, I am now the Rehabilitation Coordinator and handle eagles on a daily basis. I am completely obsessed with bald eagles and larger raptors, and plan to go to NC State Veterinary School next year and come out continuing my practice with raptors. I can fully thank the people of CFRC for teaching me everything I know and allowing me to do what I do. Dr. Joni is my biggest hero and also the person I look up to the most, I aspire to be like her when I am out of vet school, and to be able to do the surgeries that she does. Everyone at CFRC are amazing and put in their blood, sweat, and tears for these birds and the community.
