Review for Ceres Community Project, Sebastopol, CA, USA
The Ceres Community Project is a community based organization that prepares and delivers healthy food to seriously ill clients, who may be unable to cook for themselves, at no charge. Our family received meals for several months, and they were fantastic...fresh and made with the healthful ingredients that tempted me to eat even when chemo did away with my appetite. The meals are all of high quality, and interesting and really, truly delicious. We love to cook, and I never thought receiving the gift of already prepared meals could be so important...but it is. There are times when food was the last thing I wanted to think about, and Ceres knows that...they step in at exactly the right time. Plus the kitchen is staffed with teenage volunteers who are learning to cook creative and nutritious foods under the guidance of a professional chef...and giving so much of their time and kindness to the community. We think it's such a great group, based an a marvelous concept, that our teenage daughter has become a volunteer, too. We eventually stopped receiving meals (at our request), because it seems the need is great, and there are others who need the assistance more than we do at this point. But our daughter is wanting to continue to volunteer...a gift in itself.
