Review for McKamey Animal Center, Chattanooga, TN, USA
It has been my honor and my joy to serve as a volunteer at McKamey Animal Center for the past four years. I drive transports from our shelter to partner rescue organizations, walk dogs, write and edit the newsletter, assist in admissions and adoptions, and happily do anything else that needs to be done. I have been continually impressed by the level of caring, compassion, and energy that both staff and my fellow volunteers devote to the animals. The facility is beautiful and kept very clean. I have witnessed many miracles, as badly abused, neglected, and fearful dogs and cats have come to our shelter and been transformed into trusting, lovable, adoptable family pets. McKamey is always striving to improve their programs and facilities. A recent innovation is a wonderful play group program for all of the dogs in the shelter. The director is caring and passionate. The shelter goes to great lengths to serve the community, conducting free or low-cost veterinary clinics in underserved neighborhoods, holding a low-cost vaccination clinic once a week at the shelter, and running a food bank for needy owners. Every effort is made to assist people in keeping and caring for their companion animals. I have spent several hours a week at this facility For the past four years, and can sincerely say that I have only admiration for its mission and the way it carries it out.
