Review for Multidisciplinary Association For Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), San Jose, CA, USA
MAPS performs a service for society that no other organization does. When I was an undergrad in the early 1980's I immersed myself in all the research literature which looked at the possibilities using psychotropic substances for treating mental illness, for enhancing creativity and for spiritual exploration. I wanted to continue at the graduate level, but I could not find any graduate psych programs that would support my efforts. By 1986, the year that MAPS was founded, I had given up my dream of pursuing a career in psychedelic research. My graduate studies went in a different direction. I never looked back, that is until around 2004 when I discovered MAPS. I have been a proud member ever since, supporting their efforts to advance the use of these substances for the benefit of humanity.
