Review for Journey To Dream Foundation, Lewisville, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Journey to Dream (JTD) embraces, equips and empowers hurting, at-risk and homeless teens to overcome adversity and live purposeful lives. JTD's goal is to impact the vulnerable population hurting, at-risk teens, youth in crisis and homeless teens. We know by providing this raising population with basic needs, shelter, as well as empowering them with positive coping/life-skills, they will become self-sufficient, productive, independent adults. Journey to Dream (JTD) has been an integral community leader in the support of this underserved population since 2004, with a mission dedicated to supporting teens overcome adversity, destructive behaviors and live purposeful, productive lives.

To date, Journey to Dream has positively impacted tens of thousands of young people with a message of hope and overcoming adversity through prevention/ intervention assemblies, mentoring, student support groups, shelter, and essential life needs. JTD offers services to a growing population of homeless youth through the open teen homeless shelter in North Texas - Kyle's Place, transitional housing for unaccompanied youth.

Our goal is to impact vulnerable populations explicitly hurting, at-risk teens, homeless, youth in crisis, and those suffering from destructive behaviors and living in dysfunctional environments. Journey to Dream programs address hurting, at-risk and homeless teens providing a safe environment allowing the teens to be themselves, share their fears and concerns and learn skills to gain confidence and become self-sufficient.

Journey To Dream created a Strategic plan with goals of collaborative efforts with school districts, community residents, businesses, like non-profits and governmental entities. Our programs address two primary functional areas, the shelter for homeless unaccompanied teens and on-going services to support hurting, at-risk and homeless teens.

The JTD programs are designed to prevent, identify and serve at-risk and homeless youth through outreach, emergency shelter, family reunification work when safe, connection to education, employment and healthcare, transitional housing, and independent housing resources. JTD plays a unique role in the support and services available to this underserved teen population. At risk teens who do seek assistance and programs are have limited options.
