My wife and I, working with the director of the Orang Utan Republik Foundation, were able to raise enough money to fully fund an orangutan caring scholarship to help a deserving Indonesian student attend four years of college to study biology or forestry. I saw a tape of the awards ceremony and was able to see the scholarship recipient with her father. The caring scholarship is important since it fulfills a critical mission of the Foundation - to educate each new generation about its role in preserving and sustaining human and animal habitats.
