Review for Multidisciplinary Association For Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), San Jose, CA, USA
MAPS has been an educational resource for my teenaged children who have expressed curiosity about psychedelics, but who have wanted to understand their value and respect them as more than just "party" drugs. Their interest in MAPS is something they have shared with others and there has been a considerable lifting of the level of understanding of psychedelic studies among them...many of them, after reading MAPS, have told me they are "not ready" for the deep experience that psychedelics entail, and I am grateful that they have enough information to know that. Nevertheless, they continue to read MAPS newsletters and show a continued curiosity about the value of psychedelics therapeutically for so many people. I think the research conducted by this association is invaluable and of paramount importance.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
A conference in NYC on the possible therapeutic effects of LSD on trigeminal neuralgia, which I have been diagnosed with, and it was very heartening to hear that others suffering with this neurological disorder reported favorable results after using LSD.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
No change at all!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the educational aspects of the research and studies
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
always helpful
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
fund significant studies and change psychotherapy for the better
Ways to make it better...
there were more issues of MAPS
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
continuing to find the funding to continue important research
One thing I'd also say is that...
I have unending admiration for the people who work tirelessly towards incorporating psychedelic studies into the mainstream of social work, psychotherapy, PTSD, death issues, and general spiritual improvement of humans. Thank you.
