Review for Multidisciplinary Association For Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), San Jose, CA, USA
I am a former therapeutic counselor and currently a teacher and mother. I have had personal and professional experience in dealing with mental health issues, especially the broad spectrum of adolescent anxiety disorders. I believe the use of psychoactive plants is just a continuum of homeopathy and herbology, and can be very effective in treating mental, emotional and even spiritual issues. MAPS is the most scientifically-grounded organization at this time that demystifies and promotes this critical field of research. For a nation with the highest rate of teen mental illness and many traumatized subpopulations, the potential good that MAPS should not be underestimated.
