Review for Multidisciplinary Association For Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), San Jose, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

MAPS is finally doing what someone should have done a long time ago - working to get modern medicine to recognize the validity and usefulness of what are quite possibly the most powerful tools available in our medicinal arsenal. The vast potential of many of the medicines loosely and collectively lumped under the term of "psychedelics" shows incredible promise, but remains largely untapped due primarily to ignorance, fear, and gross misunderstanding. Fortunately, MAPS is working to change this. Despite the ridiculous propaganda that has been spread about these medicines for political reasons, many of them have some of the best safety profiles of ANY medicine out there, at least when properly administered. That, combined with what appears to be an incredible healing potential on many different levels, makes them something that we should be devoting HUGE amounts of funding and energy towards researching, yet instead their research in humans has been completely restricted for far too long. Only recently have human clinical trials with psychedelic medicines been reinstated, and already the studies are confirming what "underground," "clandestine," and "anecdotal" research has been pointing towards for years: that these medicines not only have the ability to treat - and in many cases, completely cure - a vast array of psychological AND physiological ailments and diseases, but they may even hold the potential to completely revolutionize our understanding of medicine, not to mention the human mind. This is quite literally the final frontier of science, and its unbiased exploration is essential to the evolution of our species. MAPS is doing everything they can to make this possible, and they have my support - I hope you will consider giving them yours as well.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Countless ways

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Steer their support of research efforts away from synthetics (MDMA, etc.) and place more focus on naturally occurring plant medicines.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The information they provide their members.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

N/A

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the world

Ways to make it better...

They focused more on naturally occurring plant medicines, and less on synthetics.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Fear and closed minds

One thing I'd also say is that...

The research MAPS supports has the potential to change our world for the better... in fact it may be the only thing capable of changing the minds of the masses rapidly enough to save us from destroying ourselves, which we're currently doing very rapidly.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
