MAPS is at the very cutting edge of a whole new movement to provide solid medical research exploring the many potential uses for various previously misclassified theraputic agents, most notably MDMA. I am a physician and welcome the scientific investigation of agents that I know will prove efficacious in treating selected conditions. As a "side-effect" of these studies, we will also better understand potentially toxic and harmful 'other effects' of these substances. The sensible scientist and even the public at large cannot ignore the opportunity for more solid data on agents like MDMA which already have become culturally iconic and are widely used. MAPS has worked tirelessly for many years to bring these agents into legitimate study. I have been a dedicated donor observing my dollars being spent in the right places. MAPS is consistently at the events where they need to be represented and not in places where the resources would be wasted. They have a small and effective (lean, but not mean)team that has successfully nurtured these studies in their infancy. I never dreamed that I would see actual studies come to fruition in my lifetime AND be met with appropriate media coverage (i.e. front page New York Times.)
