I have been only been a member of MAPS for a few short months and in that time I have seen hope for the chance that they can start the change that I would like to see in the areas of disorders that effect a persons mind and well being that conventional treatments do little if anything to help relieve. I have long been a supporter of the need for more research in this field due to someone very close to me who has managed to overcome so many obstacles in her day to day life through the use of psychedelic substances and the things that they have helped her to see in a different light and come to terms with and understand. She was depressed for practically all of her teenage and adult life and psychotherapy, counseling and years of "conventional" bipolar and depression medications brought little if any relief whereas in a little over a year with the help of mushrooms and mescaline she can say that for the first time ever she is truly happy and to see her actually smile and to see the happiness in her eyes thanks to these means that everything that I read about the trials back in the 40's-60's was true and that the war on drugs has prevented so many people from getting another form of treatment that really can help and shouldnt have been stopped when it was. In conclusion I am happy that MAPS is here leading the way in these studies and working to bring these truly helpful substances back to the trial stages to show that they really can help to make life better and worth living for all those people out there that have been unable to get the help needed with conventional treatments that not only dont work very well if at all but are also dangerous and fueled by a pharmacuetical industry that is happy to have you on something that you may have to take for the rest of your life that costs a fortune and doesnt fix the problem only covers it up because they continue to make money forever because the underlying issues take so long to over come because the patient just has to learn to cope with the issue instead of having a solution to it and ending the need for the daily intake of drugs. Sorry for the long post and sort of jumbled style, and in closing I just want to say thank you again to MAPS for all they have done and are continuing to do in this field and hopefully within my lifetime I can see these substances come back to market and help all those that can live great and happy lives again one day due to their availabilty as treatments under a doctors care again one day.WAY TO GO MAPS AND NO MATTER WHAT DONT GIVE UP THE FIGHT WE ARE HERE SUPPORTING YOU AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO SEE THAT YOU SUCCEED IN A WORLD THAT DOESNT UNDERSTAND THE BENEFITS OF YOUR RESEARCH DUE TO FEAR THAT WE CAN HAVE TRUE HAPPINESS AND END THE DAILY INTAKE OF PILLS.
