Review for Volunteers for Veterans Foundation, Fontana, CA, USA
Homeless to homeowner !!! Jose Louie Mendoza USN RET.
"Volunteers for veterans Foundation" has a personal spot in my heart. "VFVF" helped me over 15 years ago when me and my family were almost homeless. I didn't know where to turn, so I went to the VA hospital to get some assistance, but there's always red tape. The VA immediately called "Volunteers For Veterans Foundation" and within a couple hours my rent plus delinquent charges, plus back rent was paid $1,300. It was around Christmas time and they found out that the kids weren't going to have a Christmas and they donated $300 and Walmart gift cards, and $300 in Stater Brothers gift cards. Our Christmas was amazing we had lived without an oven for over a year, because our landlord would not purchase or repair ours. We were able to purchase a small toaster oven and finally have a turkey for dinner! It's a small things in life!
It took that one Helping Hand, to get past a hard time. I was in a ditch on Hard Times couldn't figure out how to get out. Plus dealing military injuries loss of right eye, PTSD and my TBI, it was hard and frustrating.
Fast forward 15 years later I am now a proud homeowner, and volunteer helping my veterans in need. In the photo. We were at March Air Force Base at their new homeless living facility, with "Volunteers for Veterans Foundation" giving socks to our veterans, donated by Bombas!
All I can say is Thank You for "Volunteers For Veterans Foundation"
From time to time I feel like I owe you guys my life! I look back and see where it could have all went bad. But thanks to "Volunteer For Veterans Foundation" I am NOT one of the 22 a day...
