My husband and I have been donating to IFED for many years. In 2018, we raised enough funds among our friends and relatives to outfit the Katara School in Uganda with nearly 100 large wooden desks for the students. The previous desks had been destroyed by ruffians. This year, IFED is actively leading people away from poverty. They are funding a program which connects agricultural communities with markets and provides expert agronomy training to the people in Peru. This project can develop long term revenue for community members through working with CONAPAC (Conservación de la Naturaleza Amazónica del Perú, C.A.) CONAPAC is a registered Peruvian Non-Governmental Organization that offers this program to communities that agree to conserve the Peruvian rainforest. We are all thrilled that International Fund for Economic Development (IFED) was able to provide “seed money” for this impactful project and that it has become a model for sustainable development in the Amazon region of Peru. We have been in awe of the service provided by IFED. Not only do they thoroughly vet organizations which request funding, but rather than providing money, they hand deliver the goods that the organization needs. From suitcases full of books and school supplies to crates full of chalk boards, to computerized chess programs, to full libraries, to expandable children's shoes, IFED delivers these materials in person, develops relationships with the organization's principals, and then follows up to assure the materials are being used appropriately. Seldom can charities report that 100% of donations are used to fund the materials they provide. It is wonderful to see that the people who donate their time to IFED also donate their travel expenses. They have used all manner of vehicles and animals to deliver their goods to the most remote areas of the world. We are so privileged to personally know two of these individuals. I know all the funds I donate to IFED go to fund great causes.
