Review for Umkc Research Foundation, Kansas City, MO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Vision Research Center is such a valuable organization for the Kansas City community and beyond. As our society grows older, vision problems are on the rise, and the people of the Vision Research Center are so dedicated to finding a cure, treatment, or procedue that will allow people to either see better, or to arrest the eye disease causing blindness. The research being conducted at the Vision Research Center is quality and will benefit so many people.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

A local television station focused the Vision Research Center in 2008 for providing the first in the world treatment for Macular Degeneration. Dr. Nelson Sabates was highlighted in the treatment which improved the eyesight of a very appreciative woman.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

All I would want for this organization is the necessary funding to continue the research.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The deep dedication of the people involved with this organization is beyond admirable. They want to help people with Age Related Macular Degeneral, Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma, and will do anything to make lives better.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Phenomenal. The researchers, doctors, and staff are all devoted to the well being of the patients and their vision problems.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Hire more researchers and renovate space into state-of-the-art labs.

Ways to make it better...

There was not a need to raise money. They need money to do the research. They need money for state-of-the-art laboratories.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Money. Without a doubt, money would allow the Vision Research Center to hire more researchers and eventually a research building.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I would hope that everyone understands the need for funding for this project because we all know someone who currently has, or will have, Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy or Glaucoma. We need to stop these diseases!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  General Member of the Public & I've helped raise money for the Vision Research Center.
