PugHearts Houston is a wonderful nonprofit that has no admin costs and gives 110% of all donations back to care for the pugs that need a fresh start. We have had the honor of adopting both Former PH alums Zoey and Barney from Pug Hearts. Both of these puggies had similar stories of being returned multiple times through no fault of their own, and struggled with nervous behavior and heart-breaking shyness. Our Zoey was scared of men due to abuse in the past and at 7 years old, was not desired by her owners so she was surrendered. Our Barney was also not in a loving environment full of neglect at 8 years old- but thankfully was rescued again by PugHearts unending commitment to ensure the best life possibly for all of their pugs. These older seniors had a hard time trusting humans again and believing they could be loved in a forever home, but still had so much life and love to offer. PugHearts Houston never gave up on them, with an unending commitment for medical care, socialization, plus a dedicated core network of amazing foster volunteers to not let these senior pugs be overlooked. I am proud to report that both these babies have embraced the love that was waiting for them all along the rough road of their lives. Pugs often come in abused, neglected, and traumatized, but with open arms and open hearts, PugHearts Houston rushes in to save any pug, any age, any condition and gives back the dignity, love, and family these dogs so deeply desire. PugHearts Houston has won our hearts and we will be forever thankful for the love and enrichment added to our family.
