Review for Bill Memorial Foundation, Beverly Hills, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I had such a successful Bill Foundation adoption that I became a BF volunteer 2+ years ago. Initially,my family adopted our second rescue from BF, and after months of unsuccessfully trying to integrate the BF dog with our other rescue dog, we had to return the dog to the BF. Jo Forman made this difficult experience painless and personal for all involved. She was completely understanding and helped us all through the difficult aftermath without any negative judgement calls or making us feel inadequate or adoption failures in any way. The fabulous Bill Foundation volunteers worked to place Milo with a perfect home and family for him, where he is today- happy and healthy. We were so impressed with our entire BF experience that I began volunteering and several months later adopted Lester who has been a family member ever since. The care and concern every BF volunteer feels towards all of our dogs and prospective adopters is unlike any other rescue group I've seen. BF goes out of its way to be a full disclosure organization and take the guesswork out of each adoption. Bill dogs are fostered with love and taught basic behaviors, are house trained, receive all of their shots, are neutered or spayed and microchipped BEFORE they come to an adoption event. BF dogs are ready to be adopted and to fit into their forever homes well socialized and healthy. If there are existing medical or social issues, our adopters are told immediately.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

every aspect of their mission and outreach, as both a client and a volunteer. Even an experience of returning a Bill dog was handled with tremendous care, concern and postive followthrough for everyone-- dog and humans-- involved.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not make any changes, only hopefully help the Bill Foundation increase their donor base so their outstanding work can continue with rescuing more dogs and helping with more adoptions.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the time and care each volunteer feels and devotes to the Bill Foundation- which is extraordinary and heartfelt. People at each adoption event say they can absolutely feel the love!!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and very helpful. Clearly, the Bill Foundation volunteers totally enjoy being part of this incredible group of people and dogs.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand its outreach to help more people find wonderful dogs to adopt, as well as rescue many, many more dogs and help them begin the road-- medically and socially-- to find their perfect forever homes and families.

Ways to make it better...

Nothing-- my experience for the past almost 3 years has been uniformly exceptional and very rewarding. I get back way more than I give.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

increasing our donor base so we can have the funds we need to continue and expand upon the rescue, foster and adoption work we do and want to continue to do.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the BIll Foundation is an example of the best blending of human care and concern for animals in need. NO organization does it better when it comes to believing in a mission and carrying it through with total commitment and individualized treatment for all

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Client Served & I adopted and returned a dog. Then I joined the Bill Foundation as a volunteer and later became a successful adopter of a BF rescued dog.
