Review for North Marin Community Services, Novato, CA, USA
I am a parent of 2 children who attend the youth center. Both of my children started at NYC when they were only a few months old. What a difficult decision for a parent to make! But I found it was an amazing experience for me and my kids! My daughter (almost 5) just moved to their Kindergarten room. She is already sounding out and spelling simple words, doing math problems and learning how to get along with her peers. My son (not yet 3) is in the toddler room and can identify the entire alphabet and even write a few letters! He can recognize and spell the letters of his name. He's been doing that since he turned 2!! While I would like to take credit for my children's brilliance, I know that NYC has a huge part in these developments. Both of my children potty trained before they were 2 1/2 years old. NYC helped me with this awesome feat! The teachers are warm, kind and caring. They even do parent development so that parents can discuss our mutual concerns and issues that arise with our kids. I know the entire ECE staff as they really work together to make the center a knockout. When kids transition from one room to another, they work with the kids until they are ready to move to that next step. They really seem to be in tune with the child's needs. I could rave on, but I will close with the fact that the leadership of the NYC is unparalleled. From the Board of Directors to the Management Team, Administrative team and teachers. You will not find a childcare center in Novato with people who are more dedicated to their jobs, but more importantly to the children than at NYC. No wonder the school's motto is Success Starts Here! I am a believer and know my kids will be successful from the start they have gotten at NYC!
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
My children's development and successes in being in the ECE and PCIT counseling program.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Expand the buildings to create more room for childcare and generate more revenue for programs.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Their dedication to my children's well being and what wonderful children they have turned out to be under the care of NYC.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Kind, caring, helpful, flexible, dedicated.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Help the Community on a bigger scale than it does now. It does so many things so well I don't know that it would do more or better things...it would just be able to reach more people.
Ways to make it better...
I had more time to volunteer at the center to give back what they have given me.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
funding
One thing I'd also say is that...
In the 4 plus years my family has been at NYC, I have seen it grow and evolve. Yet, with all of its accomplishments, no one is content to stay static. They are always looking for ways to continue to get better.
